The Detroit Tigers are optioning struggling first baseman Spencer Torkelson to Triple-A, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Pressreports.
The Tigers will reportedly promote third baseman Justyn-Henry Malloy in a corresponding move.
Torkelson has struggled at the plate this season, slashing .201/.266/.330 with four home runs, 18 RBIs, and 56 strikeouts in 54 games.
