The New York Mets offered first baseman Pete Alonso a seven-year, $158-million contract extension in June 2023, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
However, the two sides never got close to reaching an agreement, per Sherman.
Ex-Mets general manager Billy Eppler reportedly made the offer to Alonso's former agency, Apex Baseball.
