Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from Wimbledon ahead of Friday's semifinal match due to an abdominal injury that plagued him during his quarterfinal victory over Taylor Fritz.
The Spaniard, who was aiming to capture a record-extending 23rd major title and keep his hopes of claiming a rare calendar Grand Slam alive, was in visible pain both during and after his quarterfinal triumph.
Nadal's withdrawal means his semifinal opponent, Nick Kyrgios, will receive a walkover into Sunday's final, where he'll play either Novak Djokovic or Cameron Norrie.
