Orioles sign Jackson Holliday… record breaking

The Baltimore Orioles and first overall pick Jackson Holliday are in agreement on a record-breaking deal for a high-school player, the New York Post's Jon Heymanreports.

Heyman didn't disclose the exact figure but mentioned it was "just a touch over" the $8.185-million deal No. 2 pick Druw Jones agreed to with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The slot value for the No. 1 pick in the 2022 MLB Draft was $8,846,900.

Holliday, 18, was chosen first overall by the Orioles on Sunday after being named the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for the state of Oklahoma.
